Heavily played by Crock, M. Schaffhäuser, Jennifer Cardini, Jesse Rose and and and … Gumption retrieves two more smouldering cuts from the blast furnace in the form of Aacid Code 8 and Tarantula Continuum, courtesy of Casio Casino and Neville Attree. AAcid Code 8 is the result of a spontaneous studio session that took place after a long night behind the decks and from the moment the bassline emergesfrom a dense thicket of white noise the pair make their intentions clear. With expertly crafted sequences punctuated by dramatic crescendos anddistinctive mood changes, AAcid Code 8 is a melting pot of styles and influences that somehow manage to coexist, creating a rich montage of sounds and textures. Full of subtle references, there are ghosts at work in the machine here, summoning up visions of dark, delirious warehouse raves - past, present and future. The hypnotic, drifting melody, live turntable overdubs, rolling percussion and acid tinged, electro breakdowns make AAcid Code 8 a thunderous addition to any set, so it’s no surprise that Dan Curtin has already snapped it up for his forthcoming mix compilatiion on Tuning Spork. Tarantula Continuum is an altogether different experience. Rolled by Nev before being thoroughly smoked in Casio’s Bergheim studio, it’s a dense, multi-layered monolith with a ring shifting bassline suspended in a delicate web of glitchy delays, filtered efx and scratchy melodies. Accompanied for the most part by a shuffling, metallic snare pattern, the track steadily builds towards its climactic breakdown before unleashing the howling synth line that lurks at its heart. Free from any particular ´purist` ethic, both tracks represent raw, organic, freestyle techno and will appeal to those who prefer venturing into abstraction to simply painting by numbers.

Airplay: “Contactfm.com (F) ”

Airplay: “karotte's kitchen (sunshine live)/nightflight with martin böttcher (fritz)”

C Rock (Stir15): “B-Side for me, nice vibe, moody but kickin at the same time!”

Jennifer Cardini: “yes ! yes ! yes ! ”

Jesse Rose (Frontroom rec): “Heavy, Great tool for the floor.”

Karotte: “yes. a seite ist ein geiler düsterer schieber. coole platte. hab auch auf gumption nix anderes erwartet.”

mark henning (clever/trapez): “i really like the b side ... nice and dark.”

Mathias Schaffhäuser (Ware): “ ''it's superb!'' ”

Shelley Parker (Haywire Sessio: “Excellent. Peak time stuff for sure and just great to hear minimal music that's actually interesting too! Will chart this month for sure. ”
